Sealegs Participates in Waiheke Clean Up

Amphibious vehicle manufacturer Sealegs is lending its land and sea capabilities to Sustainable Coastline’s Love Your Coast Waiheke Island Beach Clean-ups.

The revolutionary patented concept has long been a hit with on-water adventurers and superyachts looking for the means to go further, and now the Auckland-based company will be rolling in and out of the water around Waiheke Island assisting the community clean up.

Sealegs is supporting the Love Your Coast’s Waiheke event, taking place from Saturday 28 February to Friday 6 March, alongside locals and school children support. The Sealegs amphibious craft will be picking up litter from otherwise unreachable coves and rolling from sea to land in hard-to-reach parts of the Waiheke coastline.

Sustainable Coastlines works within communities to coordinate large scale coastal clean-up events, and has been responsible for getting 1,048,485 litres of rubbish off New Zealand coasts. Sealegs is marking its tenth year in 2015 and celebrating the launch of it’s 1000 Sealegs amphibious craft.

60 Sealegs craft are based on Waiheke island, making it the home of the most Sealegs per capita in the world. The company is a keen supporter of the Waiheke community and a favourite at the annual Onetangi Beach races is the Sealegs race.
