Sealegs Ships 250th Boat to UK Customer
Sealegs International Limited today announced it has shipped its 250th amphibious boat to a customer in the UK.
Sealegs CEO David McKee Wright says the delivery of the 250th boat represents another significant milestone in the company’s development.
“We delivered the first Sealegs boat to a New Zealand customer four years ago and have progressed from start-up to volume production in that timeframe,” he said.
The 250th boat has been purchased by Mr Michael Pritchard who lives on the island of St Mary’s in the Atlantic Ocean, located 45km SW of Land’s End off the Cornwall coast.
Mr Pritchard says with so many islands and beaches to visit, a craft with the versatility that Sealegs offers is a huge bonus. “With Sealegs we don’t need a tender or pier for mooring, we just get in and go,” he says.
In the last financial year Sealegs produced 112 amphibious boats and it expects to double that number this year. Sealegs opened a new hull fabrication factory in May to cope with the demand for its unique product. Production is currently at full capacity with substantial forward orders.
With most boats built for export, Sealegs boats are now in use throughout the world.
