Sealegs receives growth grant

Sealegs International today has announced that it has received a $410,000 grant from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise towards the cost of developing the Project X volume production version of its amphibious boat.

Sealegs Project X is a major initiative to develop a high-volume amphibious boat with world-class styling and finish which will enhance Sealegs international competitiveness and profitability.

Under the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Growth Services Fund, Sealegs was identified as having clear and significant growth potential. A rigorous screening process confirmed the net economic benefit of the project to New Zealand through increased export sales and creation of new jobs.

A number of local subcontractors will also benefit from the manufacturing and assembly of the Sealegs Project X amphibious boats being made in New Zealand.

Sealegs CEO Mr David McKee Wright said “Sealegs is excited to receive the grant and is looking forward to the growth in export sales of the innovative, New Zealand designed and manufactured Project X amphibious boats”.

Sealegs was recently selected as a finalist in the New Zealand Emerging Exporter Awards.
