Sealegs Hires Vice President of North America

08 June 2010

Sealegs has appointed Mr Jon Hoflich as Vice President of North America.  Leading the initiative to grow the North American side of the business, Hoflich is a seasoned veteran in the marine community who served as a Commanding Officer of a U.S. Coast Guard Cutter and recently led the Military and Professional Division of Protector Boats in North America.

As the world’s leading manufacturer of amphibious boats, Sealegs is building on its international momentum and expanding into North America.  Hoflich will lead the charge, using his skilled expertise in the international marine industry.  Born in Alaska and son to a fishing guide, he began his career in the U.S. Coast Guard rising the ranks to become Commanding Officer.  Following the U.S. Coast Guard, he spearheaded initial anti-piracy security efforts in the Gulf of Aden off Somalia, as an independent maritime security advisor.  Just prior to joining Sealegs, Hoflich used his passion for the marine world to help grow the Military and Professional Division of Protector USA.

“We’ve been impressed with Hoflich’s rare combination of directing high-risk maritime operations and his heightened level of understanding for the Sealegs technology,” said David McKee Wright, CEO, Sealegs.  “His proven leadership and solid marine business acumen make him the perfect candidate to launch our product in the largest boating market in the world – North America.”

According to Hoflich, once consumers experience the Sealegs amphibious boat they develop a greater appreciation for its quality, craftsmanship and innovation.

“We’ve initiated an aggressive product launch on both the recreational and first responder/rescue boat lines this summer, including a 10-stop summer tour and contact with nearly 6,000 marine rescue and law enforcement units” said Jon Hoflich, vice president, Sealegs.  “Our team has identified several key regions in the United States and Canada where our patented amphibious boats offer a paradigm shift in the way people boat, with life changing and life saving results.”

Hoflich will be responsible for overall business development as well as recreational, first responder, and military sales.
