English Channel Record Drives Sales at Southampton Boat Show
It hasn’t taken long for the successful world record crossing of the English Channel by an amphibious vehicle to generate sales for Sealegs International in the UK.
Sealegs International UK distributor, Amphibious UK Ltd, has secured six orders and a number of expressions of interest, from the Southampton Boat Show last week.
The 5.6 metre Sealegs amphibious rigid inflatable, which smashed the record for a crossing of the English Channel by an amphibious vehicle in June by almost one hour, was on display at the show.
Sealegs Managing Director David McKee Wright, who attended the show, says the Sealegs stand attracted a lot of attention from a wide range of boating enthusiasts across the United Kingdom who had seen the English record crossing on TV or read recent boating magazine reviews.
“We are delighted with the positive response Sealegs has received in the UK and the increased brand awareness gained from the successful English Channel record crossing,” he says. “Selling six boats in Southampton shows that Sealegs is now getting good traction in this big international market.”
Sealegs has also announced that in order to better meet the demand of increased orders for its amphibious boats, it is moving to larger premises at the end of October. The larger facility in the North Harbour Industrial Park will increase its current production space by 300%.
